Holistic scan optimization of nacelle-mounted lidars for inflow and wake characterization at the RAAW and AWAKEN field campaigns

Abstract In this article, we provide a methodological framework for designing the scanning strategies of nacelle-mounted lidars wind energy field experiments, and apply it at two major experimental campaigns. For Rotor Aerodynamics, Aeroelastics, Wake project (RAAW), leverage on one turbine to characterize incoming turbulence wake. American WAKE experimeNt (AWAKEN), use four top turbines in large power plant investigate both individual wakes wind-plant-scale flow features.
